press release: The best thing to happen to winter: The Columbus Sleigh Rally and Model Horse Show. Come see the fur coats, the beautiful horses the sound of antique bells and the laughter of the young and the old as you spend a day in historic Columbus.
The day begins with judging the Breyer model horse show starting at 8 am and going throughout the day. If you have a horse crazy kid or maybe some Breyer horses from your childhood you should come and see what a Breyer-Recognized show is all about.
The Sleigh rally begins at 11:00 right in front of the pavilion so no need to venture far in the snow. Bon fire, hot cocoa and take a ride yourself. The Columbus sleigh rally is the ONLY American Driving Society Sanctioned rally in the Midwest. Horses will compete in classes such as cones (timed course through Christmas Trees) Currier and Ives, (pleasure class,) and the cross country where the sleighs go through the park and the golf course.
The rally will end approximately at noon (many sleighs will continue to drive at will in front of our historic pavilion) then you can hop a ride on a bobsled yourself and see what a beautiful park and golf course we have in Columbus. Starting at about 1ish....is skijoring. Local kids and yes some adults will bring their horses to the park and have their friends ski behind them. You want to try? That can be arranged. Bring your skis and come on down. If you don't have ski's we have some that might fit.
The event is free for spectators. Those that want to participate should bring some money. All proceeds go towards the Wisconsin Equine Foundation. A 501C3 non profit. The Equine Foundation gives grants scholarships and funds events of our youth and horseman and women in Wisconsin.
