Community Thanksgiving
Delta Beer Lab
Perhaps your household could use a helping hand this Thanksgiving, or you’re just seeking some community; several locations have free meals planned on the holiday. Delta Beer Lab’s fifth annual community Thanksgiving is taking place from 3-5 p.m. (the taproom will be open 1-7 p.m.). The meal, a cafeteria-style turkey dinner, is free but donations are encouraged for Agrace; tickets at delta.beer. The free Sina Davis Community Meal is from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County’s Allied Family Center; pre-registration is encouraged. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Road, hosts its traditional free Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; no RSVP necessary. Lakeview Lutheran Church hosts a free meal at noon; RSVP by calling 608-244-6181. And Neighborhood Food Solutions is hosting a free community meal at Madison Labor Temple, from noon-3 p.m.
media release: The folx at Delta Beer Lab understand that not everyone has a place to go for the holiday season so they are once again opening up their taproom to the community for a free Thanksgiving feast.
“Each year on Thanksgiving Day Delta Beer Lab offers a community meal as part of our mission to be a welcoming place for everyone,” said Delta Beer Lab co-owner Pio (Tim Piotrowski). “This is our fifth year offering this meal, free of charge, as an option for those individuals and groups who may not otherwise have a safe/welcoming place, or a family, to go to on Thanksgiving Day. This meal will not only provide food, but a sense of welcome and kinship on what can be a lonely holiday for some. We will be serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and are expecting up to 150 individuals to join us this year. Last year we served 125 dinners!” Registration is highly encouraged.
While the meal is free of charge, any cash donations - large or small - will be accepted and given to Delta Beer Lab’s November Nonprofit Partner, Agrace, whose mission is to provide hospice and supportive care services in private homes, and in skilled nursing, assisted living and other community residential facilities across southern Wisconsin. All taproom “tips” are donated to a monthly Nonprofit Partner throughout the year.
This year’s Thanksgiving feast will be served (meal 3:00-5:00pm, taproom open 1:00-7:00pm) by Delta Beer Lab owners Pio and Speedy (Michelle Riehn) and their staff and ambassadors, and will be provided thanks to donations from a variety of local Madison establishments listed below:
Salvatore’s Tomato Pies
Cooper’s Tavern / Food Fight Restaurant Group
Johnny's Italian Steakhouse in Middleton
Kwik Trip
Liberty Station Madison
Lee Kampa Mortgage
Bloom Bakeshop
Vicki Cookies
Stalzy’s Deli
Hubbard Avenue Diner
“We have received so many donations from friends and guests,” said Speedy. “This event would not be possible without all of the good will from our Delta Beer Lab family.”
Delta Beer Lab is a craft brewery and taproom on the south side of Madison that believes a business can do good in the community while also doing well for itself. Their mission is to expand community through quality, local craft beer without barriers to gender, race or sexual orientation. A huge part of their business model is giving back to the community through their Nonprofit Partner program, which has invested over $215,000 back into the community, and through producing community-centric events.
