Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra music director Andrew Sewell conducts at a 2019 concert.
The Concerts on the Square series featuring Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and guests is one of Madison’s most beloved happenings each summer. It may be free for concertgoers, but it’s definitely not free for the WCO to produce. That’s where Concerts & Cuisine comes in. Spotlighting favorite entrees, appetizers and desserts created by more than 30 local chefs, the evening also features live and silent auctions, and of course music provided by the WCO. Ticket sales have been extended to May 25.
media release: The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra (WCO) is delighted to announce its highly anticipated annual gala event, Concerts & Cuisine, scheduled to take place on June 2, 2024 at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton. All proceeds support the mission of the WCO and the continuation of Concerts on the Square. Tables are available for sponsorship and single tickets are available through May 19 (unless sold out) by visiting wcoconcerts.org/gala.
Featuring over 25 chefs competing for best signature appetizer, entrée, or dessert, the event promises a “full” evening of everything you love about Concerts on the Square – the music, ambiance and atmosphere, and the community. The evening will hold a stellar lineup of delicious eats, both silent and live auction items, a wine pull, and performances by the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, showcasing the talent and artistry of its exceptional musicians under the baton of Maestro Andrew Sewell.
"We are thrilled to once again present Concerts & Cuisine, a true celebration of the iconic concert series founded over 40 years ago” says Joe Loehnis, CEO. "Concerts on the Square makes people show up. It gives us a special feeling about our community and the way we come together. Outside of the actual concert series, this event gives attendees another opportunity to experience exceptional music and come together in support of our mission – to strengthen communities through innovative, high-quality artistic experiences that entertain, inspire, and unite diverse audiences. I can’t think of a better way to ring in another year of Concerts on the Square and to help celebrate Andrew Sewell’s 25th Season as conductor of this series and of the WCO.”

About the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra
Maestro Andrew Sewell and the musicians of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra (WCO) bring national caliber music to more than 250,000 music lovers annually. No other arts organization in Wisconsin performs free for more people each year. Founded in 1960, the WCO is one of Madison’s gems, a national-caliber chamber orchestra behind the now four-decade summer tradition of Concerts on the Square.
The WCO also presents the classical Masterworks series at the Overture Center, the annually sold-old Messiah, and education concerts for families and children. In 2021, the WCO launched its first composer in residence program, bringing in acclaimed composer, author, musician, and professor Dr. Bill Banfield to write major works while in residence. While headquartered in Madison, the orchestra has played around the state. To learn more about the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra visit wcoconcerts.org.
