Dave Stoler Quartet
UW Memorial Union-Play Circle 800 Langdon St., Madison, Wisconsin 53706
press release: Concerts of fresh original music, in a great listening room, with no cover charge. That’s what music fans will find at the UW Memorial Union’s Frederic March Play Circle on four Friday evenings this Fall as the Greater Madison Jazz Consortium (GMJC), Madison Music Collective and Wisconsin Union Theater present the sixth season of “InDIGenous Jazz”, a series that showcases music composed and performed by our community’s finest jazz musicians.
10/20: David Stoler Quartet. Iconic and versatile Madison-based pianist, composer and bandleader Dave Stoler is best known for masterfully performing the music of other composers, with his own trio as well as prominent local bands such as Tony Castañeda’s Latin Jazz Quartet and Sextet, Darren Sterud’s New Orleans Tribute, the Ben Ferris Octet, and the cover band Steely Dane. For his InDIGenous Jazz concert, Dave will present 12 of his own compositions, all composed especially for our Fall series, and scheduled for release later this year on his new CD. Dave’s quartet will include saxophonist Rich Perry (New York City) and Milwaukeeans Chuck Ledvina (bass) and drummer Dave Bayles (Wisconsin Conservatory of Music).
