press release: A cultural feast of Taiwan for ALL ages is coming to Madison to mark and rejoice the rich traditions as well as the contemporary practice of artworks from Taiwan. From October 19 to November 5, 2016, Madison and the UW-Madison campus will celebrate “Taiwanese Culture in Madison 2016,” a series of events that include Taiwan Cinema film screenings at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, the art exhibition of a prominent Taiwanese artist Chen, Cheng-Po (1895-1947) and a local Taiwanese artist Dr. C.K. Chang at Overture Center Playhouse Gallery, a reception with music to honor the brilliant artworks of Chen, Cheng-Po, series of academic lectures focus on Design History and Studies of Taipei and Design for Social Good, and a final component of the diverse program, the world-renowned Taiyuan Puppet Theater Company’s performance of “A Sea of Puppets” will showcase the unique artistic brilliance and an everlasting tradition of Taiwan.
