The Falderals, Barry Osborne
Mother Fool's Coffeehouse 1101 Williamson St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: The Falderals are Andrew and Becky Andestic. The St. Paul-based husband and wife duo bill themselves as "New Folk for Old Souls." The show is part of a mini-tour where they are releasing their latest album, Love Everything.
Barry Osborne lives in Denver and plays post punk old time banjo. Last fall he released my debut EP, Back of the Title Page. In it's review, Colorado's Marquee Magazine wrote "With the same whimsical irreverence of John Hartford, Denver’s Barry Osborne takes the old-time clawhammer sound and blends it with his influences of early 1980s college rock.“
Andy and Barry met in high school in suburban Milwaukee and then moved to Madison for school. They formed our indie pop band Gatewood in Ogg Hall in the mid-1990s. Along the way, with friend Lindsi on drums, Gatewood played house parties, coops, and clubs like The Chamber and O'Cayz Corral for bands like Coolhand Band and Fez Petting Zoo. The band came to an end when we graduated and went our separate ways, but we never lost touch or stopped being friends.
While this show is not a Gatewood reunion, we're excited to see many friends from those days at Mother Fool's. There is a good chance we'll join each other for a few songs.
