press release:
Fighter & the Kid is a weekly podcast featuring UFC heavyweight, Brendan Schaub and actor/comedian, Bryan Callen. It's uncut and unedited and sometimes it's just ridiculous.
On the heels of their sold out west coast tour, the untraditional podcasting duo of actor/writer/comedian Bryan Callen and former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub today announced "The Fighter and The Kid Live," the stand-up comedy tour based on their wildly successful podcast, "The Fighter and The Kid."
Callen and Schaub will kick off their tour at the Irvine Improv in California on March 16th and cap it with a final show at the famed Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia on May 21st, leaving nothing but laughter and destruction in their wake. A full tour schedule can be found below.
"When we started this podcast we just wanted to be ourselves and make each other laugh. Our fans literally know everything about us they've been with us through the ups & downs. The live show is just another step everyone takes with us," said Schaub. The goal is to shock and surprise ourselves. When we do that we know the audience got its money's worth," added Callen.
"The Fighter and The Kid Live" is the stand-up version of their weekly podcast, currently available on iTunes, soundcloud and YouTube, and to date commands over 3 million downloads per month, cementing it as one of the most downloaded podcasts in the world. In the podcast and the show, Callen and Schaub jab "friendly" jokes each other's way while bringing two very different histories to the table.
Callen studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and got his start on the venerable sketch comedy series, MADtv, which led to roles in Entourage, How I Met Your Mother, Old School, Bad Santa, The Hangover and currently, The Goldbergs on ABC, among many others.
On the contrary, mixed martial artist Schaub is a retired UFC fighter and a former professional football player, whose tough exterior is just that. He has guest starred on the Emmy nominated "Mythbusters," helping to recreate a live-action version of the video game, Doom, has taken on negative spirits on The Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures," volleyed jokes on E!'s "Chelsea Lately" and has guest hosted on Sports Center and Fox Sports all while being an analyst for UFC.
While almost complete opposites, Callen and Schaub have become the Ying and Yang of the comedy world, attracting new fans from all different walks of life.
