Fill the Boot
press release: Members of the Monona Fire Department are kicking off their 2016 fundraising campaign this week with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This Friday and Saturday, firefighters will fan out across the Monona and Broadway Intersection with boots in hand for their department’s annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help free kids and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility.
WHERE: Monona, WI-Monona and Broadway– August 26th from 3pm-6pm and August 27th from 10-1 PM.
For more than six decades, fire fighters have stood on the front lines to fuel MDA’s mission to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy and other related life-threatening diseases that take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe. Funds raised through the 2016 Monona Fill the Boot drives empower families with life-enhancing resources and support, including state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center in the Madison and Milwaukee Areas.
They also help give more than 55 local kids the opportunity to experience the best week of the year where anything is possible at MDA summer camp at no cost to their families at Camp Wonderland in Camp Lake, Wisconsin in June.
