First Day Hike

media release: Come celebrate the first day of 2026 at the MacKenzie Center! You are welcome to come in the morning (7 am) to watch the sunrise over the New Year from our Fire Tower. Meet at the Badger Den Parking Lot.

Also, you are welcome to come in during mid-morning (at 10 am) to explore our prairies and how they survive the winter. Meet at the Lodge Parking Lot.

And, you are welcome to come in the early afternoon (1 pm) to explore our forests and how they weather the winter. Meet at the South Trails parking lot. 

Please bring your own hiking gear, as our trails will not be removed of snow. Pets are welcome, provided they are on a leash.
