SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
1. This year’s event will be one day only on Saturday July 13th with two separate fishing opportunities: one morning session from 8:30 AM to 12 PM and one afternoon session from 1 PM until 4:30 PM. Participants may register for both.
2. Participant fees will be $50 for the morning session or afternoon session. If a participant chooses to attend both sessions, the fee will be $75. The fee covers one personal attendant/family member to join the participant. $25 of each participant’s fee goes to the national organization to promote the development of the new FHNB chapters.
3. Register at the shelter building before getting on the boats.
4. A lunch will be provided in the main tent at 11:30 AM for anglers fishing in the afternoon prior to boarding the boats. A second lunch at 12:15 PM will be provided for morning participants as they come off the water at the end of their fishing trip.
5. Fishing license fees are waived for participants only for the day of the event. All others, including attendants/family members are expected to have a license if they intend to fish. Catch and release is encouraged but the participants may keep and clean their own fish.
6. Fish measuring and pictures will take place on the boat and can be posted on our web page. Guests are encouraged to bring their own cameras. Awards for the longest fish in a category will be posted on our web page and certificates will be mailed to the winners. Winners will also be listed in the post event newsletter.
7. Parking at Governor Nelson State Park is free for everyone participating in the FHNB Event; however, you must have a sticker on your vehicle. Stop at the main gate as you enter and let them know you are part of FHNB to receive your event parking pass. If there is no one at the main gate, proceed to parking and get a sticker from one of the golf cart drivers.
8. Remember to bring rain gear if showers are expected. We will fish unless there is thunder and lightning or the rain and wind is too severe.
SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR BOAT OWNERS 1. First and foremost, we cannot do this without you! In order to put angles with disability on the water for 3+hours of fun, we need your boat. Come join us. 2. This year’s event has two sessions. Boaters and fishing assistants may sign up for either or both of the sessions. 3. All boat owners and fishing assistants must check in at the registration table at the main tent and attend the orientation meeting at 7:30 AM. You will obtain boat numbers, radios, shirts and hats at the registration table. 4. Shuttle boat services will be provided for boat to shore transportation for the meeting or lunch break. We will get you a lunch break if you are staying for both sessions. 5. All loading and unloading will take place at the main dock. 6. Fish measuring and picture taking will take place on the boats. Accurate length measurement of each species caught should be reported to the main tent. (Cell # given, or physical oranges slips to report) 7. As always, boaters are encouraged to share successful fishing spots over the radio so everyone has a fishing tale to tell. 8.
