Food and the Wisconsin Idea
press release: Let’s talk. What food & agriculture policies do we want for Wisconsin?
Wednesday, February 13, 2019 (Program 3:30pm, Social Hour 4:30pm)
Lloyd & Daphne Holterman run a 940-cow dairy operation in Jefferson County. In the early 1980s they both earned degrees in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. We’ve invited them to come back to campus and help us start a thoughtful & considerate conversation about the future of food & agriculture in Wisconsin. In the face of a wide of range of challenges— depressed commodity prices, aging farm population, severe weather events, public health, soil & nutrient loss, food insecurity, immigrant labor—where can we find common ground? Other special guests: TWO former assistant deputy secretaries of agriculture, a noted political scientist, an urban food czar, a Latina community leader, a Menominee Nation educator, and more! You are welcome to sit back and listen, or join the conversation!
