Food and the Wisconsin Idea
press release: Thurs. May 2, 3:30 pm UW-Madison, Univ. Club (803 State St.) What is Healthy Food Anyway? Food and the Wisconsin Idea discussion! It’s hard to keep up with scientific reports on what foods are good for us, and frequently their findings contradict. Trendy diets come and go, while studies funded by commodity groups and trade associations can seem inherently biased. Complicating things further, we are all genetically and physiologically different, and our nutritional needs change over time. Are there are limits to what we can learn from the scientific method? If so, where else can we turn for guidance? We’ve assembled a panel of academic, professional, and community voices w ho can help us explore the perennial question of what we should eat.
