press release: Forward Madison FC will honor Madison native and two-time Olympic gold medalist Lindsay Tarpley before its game on Saturday, June 15. Tarpley, who played 125 matches for U.S. Soccer’s Women’s National Team from 2003-2011, scored 32 goals, including one in the 2004 Olympics final.

Tarpley’s appearance comes as part of FMFC’s “Tribute to Women in Soccer” night, which coincides with the 2019 FIFA World Cup. Tarpley will perform the ceremonial first kick, an honor previously bestowed upon Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes.

Prior to the match, Tarpley will also participate in a “Women in Soccer Panel” at Breese Stevens Field. WKOW Channel 27 Sports Anchor Amy Gill will emcee the panel, which features Tarpley, UW-Madison Women’s Soccer coach Paula Wilkins, UW Health and Forward Madison sports performance coach Alison Regal and Middleton United director of coaching Molly Duffy.

The panel runs from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is open only to those who secure FMFC’s Tribute to Women in Soccer ticket package.

Forward Madison, which currently leads League One in attendance with over 4,000 fans per game, will kick off against FC Tucson at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at bit.ly/MADvTUC.
