press release: Rayovac, the Starkey Hearing Foundation and the Goodman Community Center team up to provide free hearing screenings on October 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Goodman Community Center. October is National Audiology Awareness Month, the perfect time to bring attention to hearing health.
Hearing loss affects about 500,000 Wisconsin residents and can greatly impact quality of life and livelihood. This free screening will help people identify what, if any, level of hearing loss they have. Those who need additional assistance will receive a free referral to an area audiologist who will provide follow-up care.
“Hearing loss is an often-overlooked issue that can have a profound impact on quality of life,” says Ann Rule, senior director of marketing, Rayovac hearing aid batteries. “We’re offering this daylong hearing event to help those who suffer from hearing loss get the assistance and support they need.”
“Restoring a person’s hearing has an immediate, inspiring impact on that person’s quality of life and a compounding positive effect on the world,” says Marti Jones, global director of communication and marketing, Starkey Hearing Foundation. “This event is about bringing people together to emphasize the importance of hearing health.”
Starkey Hearing Foundation, a Minnesota-based public charity, gives the gift of hearing to those in need through hundreds of domestic and international mission trips per year. The organization provides free hearing tests and hearing aids for people unable to afford hearing care. Rayovac donates all of the batteries the Foundation uses on these mission trips.
