Gingerbread Casas for CASA

press release: A neighborhood of beautifully decorated gingerbread houses will emerge before people’s eyes on Saturday, December 12, 2015, during the seventh annual Gingerbread Casas for CASA, the signature holiday event and fundraiser supporting Dane County CASA (“Court Appointed Special Advocates”).

Sponsored by the Alliant Energy Foundation and Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. — with gingerbread baked and donated by Monona Catering, the exclusive caterers of Monona Terrace — Gingerbread Casas for CASA is a holiday competition in which teams battle one another (and the clock) to create the most spectacular gingerbread house.  It’s like “A Christmas Story” meets “Top Chef.”

This year’s gingerbread fun will be held at the Madison Children’s Museum (100 N. Hamilton Street), which is generously hosting the competition and a “Cookie Factory” where museum guests can decorate their own cookies.  Guests paying standard museum admission rates can watch the competition, participate in the Cookie Factory, and vote for their favorite houses.

Gingerbread features an exciting schedule of events:

The house-decorating competition will be held on Saturday, December 12, in two shifts:  from 10am to 1pm, and from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. The houses will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, with winners announced at the museum on Sunday, December 13, at 3pm.

The Cookie Factory, sponsored by Monona Catering, will be open for thirty-minute shifts between 10am and 1:30pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13.

Children can view the houses and cast ballots for the Kids’ Choice Award throughout the weekend of December 12-13.

The gingerbread houses will go on display from December 14 through the holidays in the lobby of U.S. Bank Plaza (the “Glass Bank”) in space donated by Urban Land Interests.
