Ha Jin, an acclaimed novelist who left China in 1985 and is now a professor at Boston University, stops by the Wisconsin Book Festival to read from his newest novel, The Banished Immortal. It’s a literary biography of the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai (aka Li Po). Jin is a master storyteller; his exquisite 1999 novel, Waiting, chronicled a love story set amid the brutalities of communism — and garnered the author a National Book Award.
