In Body of Truth, Brown tackles the myths and realities of the "obesity epidemic," exposing the biggest lies driving the rhetoric of obesity. With provocative prose and razor-sharp wit, she gives historical and contemporary context for what it means to be "fat," and offers ways for all of us to think about weight and health with more nuance, accuracy, and respect.

Harriet Brown is associate professor of magazine journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. The author of the award-winning Brave Girl Eating: A Family's Struggle with Anorexia, she has written for the New York Times Magazine, O Magazine, Psychology Today, and Prevention, among others. Formerly from Madison, she now lives in Syracuse, New York.
