press release: Dr. Lockwood, whose book of the same title has just been published by the MIT Press, will talk about the effects of climate change on earth’s ecosystems, and the effects these will have on human health, including increases in infectious diseases and crop shortages leading to famine. Dr. Lockwood will address adaptations needed to minimize the effects of climate change. And, most critically, the need to take preventive measures now to avoid the most extreme scenarios of disaster in the planet’s future.
Dr. Lockwood is Professor Emeritus of Neurology and Nuclear Medicine, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Buffalo, and also a Senior Scientist at Physicians for Social Responsibility. He is the author of The Silent Epidemic: Coal and the Hidden Threat to Health. (MIT Press)
