Homeless Day Resource Center Public Meeting
press release: Dane County is negotiating with Catholic Charities to operate the Day Resource Center. The site that is currently being considered for the facility is the Chamber of Commerce building located at 615 East Washington Ave. The County closed on that purchase August 31st and now owns the property. The Greater Madison Area Chamber of Commerce will continue to be a tenant until November 1st.
There will be several public meetings coming up to provide you with an opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions, and give input.
1. The City County Homeless Issues Committee – Monday, September 19th at 6:30pm
City County Building , 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Third Floor
This is a regular public meeting of the City County Homeless Issues Committee. An update on the Day Resource Center will be included on the agenda for this meeting.
2. Wednesday, September 21st from 7pm to 9pm
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 404 E. Main St., Parish Hall
3. Wednesday, September 28th from 9:30am – 11:30am (following the community breakfast)
First United Methodist Church, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison
4. Wednesday, October 5th from 7pm to 9pm
Immanuel Lutheran Church (note: location change).
Catholic Charities Madison Chief Operating Officer Kathy Stellrecht, Dane County Department of Human Services Communications and Homeless Services Manager Casey Becker, and Dane County Department of Development and Planning Director Todd Violante will be providing an overview and timeline for the new Homeless Day Resource Center during a community-focused input meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
The public is encouraged to ask questions, and provide personal input related to the center's services, safety, comfort, and gathering spaces. Those in need of services, homeless advocates, and media representatives are also invited to attend this final input meeting.
