Horizon High School 10th Anniversary Celebration
to
Edgewater Hotel 1001 Wisconsin Place, Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release:
The Horizon High School Board of Directors are pleased to announce Horizon High School’s 10th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Edgewater, 1001 Wisconsin Place, Madison, WI 53703. Horizon High School is a 501(c) (3) non-profit school that was started 10 years ago to help teens obtain their high school education and maintain sobriety. Horizon is Dane County’s only recovery high school and the only recovery high school in Wisconsin.
The mission of Horizon High School is to provide a school that fosters emotional, social and academic growth for students who want to learn in an alcohol, drug free environment. In addition to their regular curriculum, students have special life skills training, team building and several individual and group counseling sessions each week. The students also do volunteer projects for the community to assist others.
We are very appreciative of our corporate sponsors and could not keep our doors open without their assistance. Gifts from individuals and corporate sponsors makes up approximately 28% of our budget.
There is an epidemic in Dane County of substance mis-use including opiate and heroin addiction. Deaths and hospitalizations due to these substances have grown. In 2012, according to Madison Public Health statistics, 292 people were sent to Dane County hospitals because of opiates. Please plan to attend the Horizon High School 10th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser and continue to support Horizon with your financial gifts. We need to keep Horizon High School open for another ten years and support our students and their educational goals!
