The Dolls take the track Friday at noon. ALSO: Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25.
press release:
Don’t miss a second of the action: games start 10 a.m. Friday and run through Sunday evening – with the top three finishing teams earning the right to compete at championships in Portland, OR this November!
Your Dairyland Dolls will play their first game of the weekend Friday at noon against the No Coast Derby Girls from Lincoln, Nebraska.
Madison’s Dairyland Dolls have qualified for every playoff since 2006 and are proud to be returning this year while also hosting the tournament in their home city. The team was seeded 9 and came out at 6 in last year’s playoffs, and in 2014 started at 7 and came out at 5 - one of just a small minority of teams to improve their standings during the course of the tournaments.
“We are proud that we have made it into D1 again,” says team captain Shananaguns. “With the turnover of a large majority of our jammer roster from last season we have worked very hard to stay in D1, and the dedication of the team members has gotten us here. With more game experience now under our belt after the season leading up to playoffs, we hope to keep the streak going of being one of the only teams to better our seeding in our games at playoffs.”
The following teams will be joining the Mad Rollin’ Dolls in Madison on Sept. 23-25 to compete for a spot at the WFTDA Championships in November. The top three teams from each of the four international D1 Playoffs will advance to Championships to compete for the sport’s highest honor: the Hydra trophy and the title of WFTDA Champions: Gotham Girls Roller Derby, New York, New York; Arch Rival Roller Derby, St. Louis, Missouri; Minnesota RollerGirls, St. Paul, Minnesota; Tampa Roller Derby, Tampa, Florida; Team United Women’s Roller Derby, Urbandale, Iowa; Helsinki Roller Derby, Helsinki, Finland; No Coast Derby Girls, Lincoln, Nebraska; Windy City Rollers, Chicago, Illinois; Ohio Roller Derby, Columbus, Ohio.
The International WFTDA Playoffs and Championships offer seven full weekends of full-contact competition. Learn how to join the action in Madison; at the Championships in Portland, Oregon, Nov. 4-6; or at any of the WFTDA postseason events.
