University Theatre gets in the spirit with a 1940s style radio broadcast treatment of the beloved holiday classic, with live sound effects. Saturday's performance will be captured live, but come sit in the theater for the full immersion into George Bailey's struggle to find himself and save Bedford Falls from falling into the grips of Mr. Potter. ALSO: Thursday (preview, 7:30 pm), Saturday (2 & 8 pm-live broadcast by Wisconsin Public Radio) and Sunday (2 & 7:30 pm), Dec. 3-4. Through Dec. 11.

This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s live radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. Featuring live sound effects and music hearkening back to classic radio shows, this show will delight the eyes and ears just in time for the holidays. Wisconsin Public Radio will host a live simulcast broadcast of the show Saturday December 3rd.
The cast features UW students Stephen Deming, Rebecca Greenberg, Paul Urbanski, Andrea Watkins, Kyle Wessel, and Sam Wood portraying the residents of Bedford Falls.
Performances will be held in the Ronald F. Mitchell Theatre, 821 University Avenue
