Jane Addams Children's Book Award

Families and community members of all ages are invited to the Children's Room of Madison's Central Library for an afternoon of learning and creation as we celebrate the newly-announced recipients of the 2016 Jane Addams Children's Book Award and honor the local children who helped in the award process. Reading and an art project will combine for a special experience. The Jane Addams Children's Book Awards are given annually to the children's books published the preceding year that effectively promote the cause of peace, social justice, world community, and the equality of the sexes and all races as well as conventional standards for literary excellence. (Jane Addams Peace Association) Sets of the newest winning and honor books will be presented to the library by the Madison Branch of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
