1/9: SAXOPHONIST JOSÉ ENCARNACIÓN CONCERT AND CLINIC. José Encarnación directs the excellent Jazz Studies program at Lawrence University in Appleton.  He gave a terrific performance at Madison Music Collective’s very first “Jazz on a Sunday” program in September 2011 with the school’s Jazz Faculty Quartet, and he returns to town now to launch a new jazz series at Prairie Music and Arts. For this concert, Professor Encarnación will be backed by pianist Paul Hastil, bassist Nick Moran, and drummer Devin Drobka. The concert begins at 7:30 PM and will be preceded (at 6:00 PM) by a 1-hour educational clinic open to students of all ages.  Prairie Music and Arts, 798 Lois Drive, Sun Prairie.
