Laminal Animil, Matt Blair, Paranormal Ragtime Orchestra

media release: Laminal Animil, a Madison-based trio consisting of Luke Leavitt (Fender Rhodes/Juno 106), Tim Russell (percussion and electronics), and Ari Smith (bass and percussion), utilizes improvisation to investigate emergent, complex social interactions in order to create and navigate new sonic landscapes.

Matt Blair is a pianist, composer, and educator living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His work draws upon diverse musical traditions such as contemporary classical, electro-acoustic improvisation, free jazz, minimalism, and noise. In addition to his practice as a pianist, he incorporates extended electronic processing of the Fender Rhodes, synthesizers, and the computer in his music.
