Latino Americans: 500 Years of History

Author Oscar Mireles will discuss Hispanic writing in Wisconsin at the Verona Public Library on Wednesday, September 16, from 7 to 8 p.m. Mireles’s anthology of more than 30 authors of poetry, essays, memoirs, and fiction demonstrates the breadth and depth of Latino writing and literature in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
This program is presented as part of the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History program series. Latino Americans: 500 Years of History supports the American public’s exploration of the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos, who have helped shape the United States over the last five centuries and who have become, with more than 50 million people, the country’s largest minority group.
Latino Americans: 500 Years of History has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Local funding provided by Beyond the Page. Community partners include the Friends of the Verona Public Library, Verona Area Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Public Television, and Latino Chamber of Commerce of Dane County.
