Lend Me a Tenor

press release: The Watertown Players are pleased to announce the cast list for their upcoming production of “Lend Me a Tenor”! May we introduce: Jessica Walworth as Maggie; Jeremy Kumbier as Max; Bill Street as Henry Saunders; Doug Hoffman as The Bellhop; Diane Schultz as Maria; Patrick Grover as Tito; Lisa Steffl as Diana; and Angie Stenberg as Julia.  

“Lend Me a Tenor” is the story of a very important night for the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. Tito Merelli, the world-famous Italian tenor, is set to perform the starring role in Otello. Henry Saunders, General Manager of the company, is beyond stressed about everything turning out right and insists that his assistant, Max, a nervous, young fellow and secret tenor extraordinaire, watch over Tito’s every move to ensure smooth sailing. After a huge fight with his fiery, Italian wife, Maria, Tito receives a double dose of tranquilizers through a series of mishaps. The rest of the ensemble consists of Diana, an ambitious soprano; Maggie, Max’s giddy girlfriend; Julia, a flirty head of the opera guild; and a meddling bellhop fighting for Tito’s attention. Doors slam and identities are mistaken culminating in Max and Saunders miraculously saving the Opera Company’s big night in grand, farcical fashion!  

The show will be performed at the Watertown Players Theater, 210 S Water St, Watertown, on October 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7:00 pm and October 23 at 2:30 pm.  Ticket prices are $12 in advance or $16 at the door.  

The Watertown Players are committed to supporting good works in the community that we know and love.  To that end, we are proud to announce that a special Thursday, October 20, performance has been deemed “Community Theatre, Community Thursday”.  All profits from ticket sales for this performance will be donated to a local charity to be determined.  This performance will begin at 7:30 pm. Details will be announced in the very near future!  

The show is under the direction of Jennie Ortega and the technical direction of Jim Steffl.  Juanita Edington is serving as Producer.
