press release: Local theater company Penguin Productions, will be returning to Lewis Station Winery in Lake Mills after a two-year absence. The group will present “Love Letters” on March 31, April 1, 7 and 8 at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $35 and the show includes a three-course dinner, dessert and two glasses of wine. Tickets are available at the winery, 217 N. Main or by calling 920-648-5481. “Love Letters” is written for adult audiences and contains content and language that may not be suitable to younger audiences.
“Love Letters” is a play by A. R. Gurney and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play centers on two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. The couple sits side by side at tables and read the notes, letters and cards that have passed between them throughout their separated lives. They cover nearly 50 years of their hopes, ambitions, dreams, disappointments, victories and defeats.
“We are so excited to be back at the winery – it’s by far our favorite place to perform,” said Jill Nadeau, Artistic Director. “We are hoping to return three times a year and are planning for a show in October and December. The audiences are always wonderful!”
Nadeau is directing the show and is one of four actors performing in the play. She is joined by Steve Schleicher on Saturday, April 1 and Friday, April 7. Performing on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 8 are Penguin Production regulars Heather and Mike Kent. Rounding out the cast and crew is technical director Jim Steffl.
