media release: Acclaimed folk-blues singer/songwriter Luke Winslow-King has recently inked a significant deal with the iconic Bloodshot Records of Chicago, coinciding with the label's 30th anniversary, and marking a revival in the institution’s trailblazer history of outlaw country, folk roots, and rock & roll. To celebrate this exciting collaboration, Luke Winslow-King is set to embark on a Midwest tour with guitar maestro Roberto Luti of Tuscany May 17 - June 1 of 2024.
Known for his soulful, burgundy voice, unique slide guitar work, and honest songs, Luke Winslow-King is a guitarist, singer, producer, songwriter, and voting member of the Grammy Recording Academy. He has released eight solo albums and has shared the stage with Jack White, Taj Mahal, Roseann Cash, Marty Stewart, and Billy Strings. Signing with Bloodshot Records marks a pivotal moment in his career. The label, renowned for its commitment to integral and authentic artists, is bringing King’s future releases back home, reuniting them with his existing catalog of records. As a preview to the upcoming collaboration, a new single is set to drop on May 15, offering a glimpse into the forthcoming album. Fans can expect the sincere and heartfelt roots blues stylings King has become known for, showcased alongside his continual artistic reinvention.
Tuscan Slide Guitar Maestro Roberto Luti is a founding member of the Playing For Change band and has collaborated with legends such as Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Keith Richards, Ringo Starr, Dr. John and numerous others, accumulating over 100 million plays on YouTube. His unorthodox, angular, and evocative slide guitar style is based on Mississippi and Chicago blues and is influenced by soul and African roots traditions. The duo's partnership reaches back more than 15 years to its beginnings on the streets of New Orleans, and has taken them to dozens of countries around the world. Their approach to rural and hill country blues contains a certain reverence, a respect, and a bittersweetness not often heard in the modern day. The new album will feature several co-writes and showcase the unique style and dynamic synergy they have fostered.
Select tour dates will feature a full band including: Mike Lynch on organ and keys (Larry McCray, Bob Segar), Geoff Lewis on drums (Steppin’ In It) Brennan Andes on bass (The Macpodz), and Randall Moore on percussion. Luke Winslow-King and Roberto Luti's midwest tour is in celebration of musical collaboration, artistic growth, and the enduring renegade spirit of Bloodshot Records. Fans are encouraged to attend and take part as Luke and his band unveil a new chapter in their musical journey.
