SOLD OUT: Madison Kids' Gala

Due to higher-than-expected advance ticket sales, walk-up admission to the museum will not be available before 12:15 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, January 5.

Only advance ticket holders for the Madison Kids Gala will be able to enter the museum between 9:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Regular museum admission will resume after the event when we have enough capacity in the museum to permit entry.  

We apologize for this change of plans. Our priority is to make sure that everyone who visits the museum has a safe, fun experience, including access to all of our exhibits and programs. Ensuring that we do not exceed capacity during events helps us guarantee a better experience for all of our visitors. 

We look forward to reopening the museum for walk-up, general admissions on Saturday afternoon, around 12:15 p.m. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

press release: On the weekend before the Wisconsin Inauguration, special events for kids will be held in Madison, Milwaukee, and Appleton. Madison Children’s Museum is pleased to have been chosen as the location for Governor-elect Evers’ Madison Kids Gala.

The gala will be a fun and casual event with activities, music, snacks, and a short address by the governor-elect. Admission will begin at 9:30 a.m., with special activities running from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This event is organized by the 2019 Wisconsin Gubernatorial Inauguration. Tickets are now being sold on their website: $5 for kids and adults, or $15 for a family of four, free for kids 2 and under. Proceeds from all 2019 Wisconsin Inauguration events benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee.

Reduced Admission Prices: From 9:30 a.m.–12 p.m. that day, Madison Children’s Museum will also reduce our walk-up admission rate to $5 for kids and adults, or $15 for a family of four, and free for kids 2 and under. This museum rate is only available while the museum still has capacity. Members will still be able to enter and participate for free, but entry is subject to space restrictions; see below.

Capacity Cap: Due to the anticipated popularity of this event, it is possible that we will reach the capacity of our space and need to limit walk-up admissions for part of the morning. Anyone who purchases a ticket through the Wisconsin Gubernatorial Inauguration website will be allowed to enter, but walk-up admissions may be paused until enough people leave to make the space safe and fun for everyone. If you want to be guaranteed entry, we suggest you purchase tickets in advance. Madison Children’s Museum members must also purchase advanced tickets to be guaranteed entry.

Admission includes access to the whole museum and to the special activities, while supplies last. The governor-elect will be speaking briefly in our Coops to Cathedrals exhibit, which will offer limited, on-floor seating.
