March to Clean Energy: Challenging Our Communities to Lead
Central Library 201 W. Mifflin St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Many communities are moving rapidly to clean energy, but the Madison area still relies on dirty power due to MGE’s dependence on coal. Four major cities in Dane County are undertaking sustainability measures, with the City of Madison poised to pass a resolution on March 21 to move City operations to 100% renewable energy.
The Sierra Club Four Lakes Group, along with the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign, is having this public forum with leaders from Madison, Middleton, Monona and Fitchburg to discuss what they are doing and where they are headed on clean energy. Hear from leaders in cities that are taking action about their goals, and talk about ways we can challenge our leaders and ourselves to pick up the pace together on renewable energy.
The forum will begin with a social period from 6:30 – 7 PM with light snacks and refreshments, followed by a leaders panel from 7 – 8:30 PM with time for audience questions, and time to mingle until 9 PM.
The Climate Change Leaders panel will include:
