MEMF Grand Tour
press release: All are invited to an evening of food, music, and fun benefiting the 2019 Madison Early Music Festival (MEMF)! This year, MEMF will present The Grand Tour: A 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Madison Early Music Festival from July 6-13. Join us at the University Club (803 State Street) on Thursday, May 9, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm to raise funds needed to bring this year's amazing concert artists to MEMF.
Come feast upon a menu of European hors d’oeuvres and a wine tasting* while enjoying a short concert at 5:15 pm performed by MEMF participants and students from the Historical Performance Institute at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Paulina Francisco, soprano; Adam Dillon, sackbut; and Jonathan Wasserman, theorbo will perform “Marian Adoration: Sacred Music from 17th Century Italy,” featuring works by Francesca Caccini and Giovanni Felice Sances.
After the performance we will join curator Maria Saffiotti-Dale for “Grand Tour Stories at the Chazen Museum of Art” to see paintings in the permanent collection that illustrate our theme. Tours will leave the University Club for the Chazen Museum of Art starting at 6:00 pm.
Tickets are $40 in advance ($50 day of) and net proceeds will benefit the Madison Early Music Festival. During the event, you may designate a contribution to sponsor specific concerts or artists during the 2019 Festival
*Wine tasting is an additional $10, cash or check at the door.
