Merci Congo
UW Social Sciences Building 1180 Observatory Drive, Madison, Wisconsin
documentary screening and panel discussion about the Democratic Republic of Congo in conjunction with the Amnesty International Club at UW Madison that is happening on Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 in the Sewell Social Science building in room 6104. I know this is quite short notice but is there any way the event could be listed on the website and/or upcoming issue of the paper. This event is quite unique due to the highly qualified individuals coming to attend. The documentary is called "Merci Congo" and delves into the conflict that is currently transpiring in Congo. The panel discussion after the movie includes the actual filmmaker Paul Freedman and an activist in Congo for women's rights, Neema Namadamu. Amnesty International and I are trying to get as many people as possible to attend and making this open to the community. We believe having this event listed would allow us an avenue to make people aware of this event. Also, due to the notable speakers, maybe a reporter would want to do a story on this event and attend. Again, this event will not only serve as an educational opportunity, but one that aims to promote global civic engagement.
