Madison Symphony Orchestra principal clarinetist JJ Koh.
This little orchestra proves the wealth of talented classical musicians in the Madison area. The concert features JJ Koh (pictured), who serves as the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s principal clarinetist, playing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. It’s conducted by Steve Kurr, who will launch the season with his own composition, “Good Neighbors,” and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” The orchestra honored retired Isthmus critic John W. Barker by dedicating this season to him.
press release: Middleton Community Orchestra is celebrating its tenth anniversary season with soloist JJ Koh, principal clarinetist of Madison Symphony, performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. Conductor Steve Kurr kicks off the new season with Good Neighbors, a piece he composed for this special anniversary season. Ending the concert is Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World".
The 2019-20 season is dedicated to John W. Barker, now retired music critic, in gratitude for his insights, support and steadfast commitment to our orchestra, and for his reviews of nearly all 45 of our concerts since our inception in 2010.
