Mike and Friends
This jam-friendly collective (led by Phun guitarist Mike Scieszinski) is often spotted playing Grateful Dead-related material along with other classic rock and some original songs. For their second residency at The Bur Oak, each week will spotlight hard rockers: Led Zeppelin on Jan. 6, Jimi Hendrix on Jan. 13, and Guns N' Roses on Jan. 20. (Never fear, Dead fans, they’ll be included too).
media release: $15 ADV / $20 DOS / $30 3 Show Pass. Doors: 7pm Shows: 8pm-11pm.
Madison guitarist Mike Scieszinski and his party band Mike & Friends return to The Bur Oak in early winter of 2024. The band will play a three week weekly residency on consecutive Saturday nights in January. Each week’s concert will be themed, not unlike the inaugural residency this past year that was such a big hit with the east side.
This year, the spotlight is turned on Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Guns n’ Roses; with each artist getting a night of the residency dedicated to their brilliant music. Of course they will be augmented with a hefty helping of vintage Grateful Dead, but the band will attempt to prove that they can play “More than Dead”!
Mike & Friends plays mostly popular music, but does throw out an original or two now and again; and will be doing so at these shows. They are known for playing The Grateful Dead, and bringing an eclectic mix of music and musicians together at each gig. Mike is also the front man of the popular Madison based Phish tribute act PHUN and plays a number of solo shows each year.
Tickets are available at all of The Bur Oak’s outlets.
