Mike Mentzer & Tom Martinelli

press release: Local columnist and Madison Magazine blogger Doug Moe will interview Mike Mentzer and Tom Martinelli, authors of Unbreakable Bonds: Edgewood Football, Life Lessons: 1927-2015, a recently released book on the history of the Madison Edgewood High School football program. Moe will conduct the interview at the Mystery To Me book store on Wednesday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m.

More than 120 hours of face-to-face interviews were conducted with former players, coaches and supporters of the football program; and more than 30 detailed written responses were received from former players, coaches and administrators for inclusion in the book. Countless historical documents, statistics, game reports and photos were assembled into a 375 page book, with 12 chapters illustrated with 225 photos, and a detailed Appendix and documentation.

The book was written and produced by Tom Martinelli and Mike Mentzer, members of the Edgewood Class of 1967 and teammates on the Edgewood football team.

The book encompasses Edgewood football history from its first year in 1927, under the direction of Coach Willis Jones, through the Earl Wilke era and his 37 seasons at the football helm, and continuing until the present time and the era of longtime coach Al Minnaert.

The authors will be available to sign books purchased that night after the interview.
