Milwaukee’s Beer Line
to
Capital Brewery, Middleton 7734 Terrace Ave., Middleton, Wisconsin 53562
press release: The Center for Railroad Photography & Art is proud to partner with Capital Brewery and Bier Garten to present the historic photography exhibition Milwaukee’s Beer Line.
The traveling exhibition, which will be on display in the brewery’s beer hall, is comprised of a collection of 1950s-era photographs that chronicle the little known history that link together Milwaukee’s railroading and brewing industries. Using images from the Center’s Wallace W. Abbey Collection, the display shines a light on the impressive railroad line, the Milwaukee Road, and the blue-collar work force that supplied the city’s major breweries (Schlitz, Pabst, and Blatz). This line that catered specially to Milwaukee’s favorite breweries became commonly known as the Beer Line.
Join us at Capital Brewery on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 6-9 PM for a night of history and beer to celebrate the exhibition opening. At 7 PM John Kelly, author of Railroads of Milwaukee will give a multimedia presentation on the history of the beer line.
Capital Brewery will also commemorate the exhibition opening with a special tapping of the dark lager “Iron Bender Dark.” Get it while supplies last!
