Storytelling, one of the earliest human art forms, goes on today with a resurgence in the performative genre fueled by The Moth podcasts. Here Madison's own StorySLAM encourages five-minute tellings of stories, this month around the theme of goals. The host is musician and storyteller Kevin Willmott II (a longtime fixture on the Madison scene in Cowboy Winter and Don't Mess with Cupid). Proof of vaccination required. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the show.

Jan. 5 update from Jen Rubin: We canceled the Moth in Madison for January. Hard to know what the right thing to do is with Omicron - but we are erring on the side of caution. We will be back on Feb 7 for the February StorySlam. If you purchased tickets to this event, they will be honored for February 7th at High Noon. The theme is LOVE HURTS.

Prepare a five-minute story about aiming high. Buckling down and getting to work or rain-checking your ambitions until the new year. Learning to bake sourdough, finishing that script, perfecting the three-ball juggle…or falling short despite your blood, sweat, and tears. Digging in or checking out. The sky’s the limit - dream big!
