West-side neighborhood group Team Gold and Wisconsin Center for Advanced Postsecondary Education are hosting “Moving Wisconsin Forward: Reinvesting in the University System,” a forum featuring UW System President Ray Cross, former state Sen. Dale Schultz, state Rep Diane Hesselbein and other speakers. Short presentations will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Wheeler Report president Gwyn Guenther.
UW SYSTEM PRESIDENT RAY CROSS, LAWMAKERS TO ADDRESS “MOVING WISCONSIN FORWARD: REINVESTING IN THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM” FORUM
How can Wisconsinites come together to keep the University of Wisconsin strong? How can we protect UW values in a time of funding cuts and tuition freezes?
UW System President Ray Cross, professors, lawmakers, and other education experts will address this at “Moving Wisconsin Forward: Reinvesting in the University System,” a free forum Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Madison Memorial High School, starting at 7 p.m.
The forum, which is open to the public, is sponsored by Team Gold, a west-side Madison neighborhood team, Wisconsin Center for Advanced Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE), Kiefer Law Office LLC, and Paula Bonner, WAA President and Chief Alumni Officer .
Other participants will be:
Gwyn Guenther, Wheeler Report, moderator; Former State Sen. Dale Schultz; Rep. Diane Hesselbein; UW Professor Nick Hillman; UW student Mariam Coker; Julie Arata-Fratta, Latino Chamber of Commerce
There will be short presentations on each topic, followed by panel discussion and audience questions. Team Gold Chair Claudia Pogreba said the forum “is an interactive nonpartisan community conversation among citizens concerned about UW’s future.”
Team Gold is a volunteer organization engaged in service to the community. It is dedicated to planning events to further dialogue about key issues important to our area, state and country.
