My Bubba, Anima
Stoughton Opera House 381 E. Main St., Stoughton, Wisconsin 53589
press release:
Thunder and lightning may get our attention, but it’s the peaceful summer rain that keeps us on our porches, lost in reverie, a cool respite from a long day’s heat. That contemplative rhythm, the quiet power of natural harmony is what draws the listener to the sparse, melodic tones of My Bubba. My Bubba, supported by Anima will play the historic Stoughton Opera House on Thursday, September 21st at 7:30p.m.
In an interview with Alexa Peters for Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, My Larsdotter said of their music, “We’re very quiet. We feel like that’s what we have to bring because everything is so loud. A lot of female artists are acting sort of masculine in order to be heard — loud and provocative — which is cool too, but for us it’s a fun challenge for us to be as soft as we can be but still strong — to be feminine in this way and get people to listen to this.”

Opening for My Bubba is Anima, an original alt-indie-folk duo from the hills of the Driftless Region in Southwestern Wisconsin. Comprised of Raina Gravatt and Jaia Wilbour, Anima's eclectic sound is filled with hauntingly captivating harmonies, double-lead guitar riffs, and an affinity for the box drum. Anima's songs contemplate human nature, healing, relationships, and oneness, passing through a lens of transcendentalism saturated with images of the deepest roots of nature – our earthen home, the patterns that exist, the fact that we are animals, and the endless fractal of breathing, reminding us that we are all connected.
Tickets are available for My Bubba, supported by Anima at the Stoughton Opera House Box Office. Stop in during office hours, order by phone at (608) 877-4400, or online at www.stoughtonoperahouse.com.
