On Ouisconsin: An Illustrated Historical Catalogue

press release: History is the product of imperfect memory. Real history reflects an honest attempt to minimize errors of fact and conclusion. Fake history is deliberately deceptive, the equally disreputable cousin of fake news.
On Ouisconsin: An Illustrated Historical Catalogue contains an alternate history of our beloved state. Housed in a repurposed 15-drawer library card catalogue, this chronicle of dubious accuracy describes a fictitious yet oddly familiar land.
The contents of each drawer highlight a different aspect of life in Ouisconsin, “The Land of Mumbled Apologies.” Text and representative artifacts, assembled by author-illustrator Philip Heckman, showcase what defines Ouisconsinites--from their beer to their inventions to their disreputable characters. The result is a unique picture of ourselves over time. The view is admittedly unauthorized, mostly unreliable, and entirely uncalled-for, but, hey, it’s free of charge.
The On Ouisconsin "fake history catalogue" will be on display at Sequoya Library beginning May 1 and continuing through July 31.
