Three months after the release of their sophomore album, Palehound brings their updated take on fuzzy lo-fi ‘90’s rock to Madison. Singer-songwriter Ellen Kempner fronts this band with heart-wrenching vocal melodies and crunching guitar riffs. Boston’s legendary hometown-punk-heroes Pile, whose songs jump from quiet ruminations to heavy screams, provide support. With Trophy Dad.

press release: Lead by fierce vocalist and prolific creative force Ellen Kempner, Boston’s Palehound released the critically acclaimed sophomore album, A Place I'll Always Go, on Polyvinyl Record Co. earlier this summer. The band shares the beautifully illustrated music video for album single, “Room,” created by Rozalina Burkova premiering via Stereogum.

Of the collaboration, Ellen explains, "I found Rozalina’s art randomly on the internet one day and became obsessed. I adore the way she draws bodies and I relate to her characters. I knew that she was perfect for bringing the queer love behind Room to life and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful video." Rozalina echoes the same sentiment, sharing how "working with Ellen on the video is probably my favourite project this year. Her sole requirement for me was to animate a queer love story. So we bounced a few ideas of each other and I think what came out is a pretty intimate but fun romance."
A Place I’ll Always Go is a frank look at love and loss, cushioned by indelible hooks and gently propulsive, fuzzed-out rock. The album channels feelings of anxiety — heart-racing moments both exhilarating and crushing — into songs that feel well-worn and comforting. Recorded at Brooklyn’s Thump Studios (with the assistance of Gabe Wax), A Place I'll Always Go builds on the promise of Palehound's critically acclaimed 2015 album Dry Food, showcasing songs that breathe Kempner’s evolved maturity.
Boston, Massachusetts, band Pile have released a music video for "Texas," a stand out from their most recent album, A Hairshirt of Purpose.

Stereogum, which premiered the Adric Giles-directed video, is saying "it's a twitchy rock and roll song that showcases Pile at their very best," while the Pile's Rick Maguire says "the song is about the five gyres of trash floating in the ocean, I like to think that this little character symbolizes the collective unconscious running from that reality, but I guess it also represents the running against the current that pulls you towards the accumulation of trash. Yin and Yang or something." A Hairshirt of Purpose, Pile's 5th full-length album, is available now via Exploding In Sound Records.
