SOLD OUT: Princess Tea For You and Me
press release: Akiha is an active, creative 3 year old who loves to dress up as a gymnast, a doctor, a ballerina and a princess. Her mother, Tenisha, supports this growth by enrolling Akiha in various programs, activities, and reading culturally diverse books. Tenisha was disappointed when she would see Princess meet and greet events advertised that never featured any princesses of color.
So Tenisha decided she was not the only mom who would want her daughter to be able to see and interact with “royalty” that looked like her children and decided to organize “A Princess Tea For You and Me”. The Tea will be April 1st 2017 from 10:00am -12:30pm at the Goodman Community Center, 149 Waubesa Street, will feature an array of recognizable Princesses of Color in their finest to interact with attendees, children may come dressed up as their favorite princess, prince or whatever makes them feel special. The cost per person is $5 and will include entrance and light snacks.
After only a few days on Facebook the event is 50% sold out so be sure to purchase your tickets today. More information available on Princess Tea for You and Me Facebook event page.
There is a gross underrepresentation of beauty for little girls of color both in the U.S. and here in our own city. Over and over I have tried to take my daughter to Princess Parties or buy her clothes only to find out that there was never a princess that represented her. And you know what they say….. If you can’t find it, Make it!! So we are making it happen!
because representation of beauty in our community matters. $5 a ticket, tickets are required for children and adults in attendance. Tickets available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/
