In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by a novel virus, it is difficult to not be concerned with the introduction of extraterrestrial life form by a sample return mission. An additional concern of planetary protection is ensuring that missions to other worlds aren't carrying Earth life. In this presentation Jaime will discuss missions to search for life elsewhere and the measures taken to prevent contamination of these worlds, and more importantly Earth.
