Oakwood Village-University Woods Center for Arts & Education 6205 Mineral Point Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53719
Re-Imagining Neruda and Female Empowerment is a touring performance and art installation conceived by composer Jerod Reetz and dancer Carol Carlson. The installation focuses on the theme of female empowerment, highlighting texts taken from Chilean poet Pablo Neruda which relate to the same theme. After setting music to Neruda texts and choreographing movement to the music, Reetz and Carlson contacted visual artists interested in premiering artwork for the installation relating to the same theme: Vela Noble; Jessica Johnson; Linda Rife. Altogether, the installation will consist of four scheduled dance performances, presentations of artwork by performance and visual artists, and a chance for guests to meet some of the artists who will discuss their creative process. Food and drink will be provided.
The events are free and tickets are not required. Donations welcome.
