Replated: A Community Meal
press release: According to the EPA, in 2013 alone, more than 37 million tons of food waste was produced in the U.S, feeding landfills, when we should be feeding people. The Dane County Food Council and the Food Day planning workgroup are excited to announce Dane County Food Days 2016, from October 21st to October 23rd. 2016 Food Days will include multiple events that celebrate local food and highlight ways to reduce food waste. This year’s main event, Re-plated: A Community Meal, will showcase a meal made from perfectly edible produce collected from local farm fields and grocery stores that would have gone to waste.

Area Chefs, Dave Heide (Liliana’s Restaurant) and Patrick DePula (Salvatore’s Tomato Pies) will go head to head in a live version of Chopped! Crafting delicious dishes to feed the crowd with an assortment of produce. Come Hungry! The event will include resource tables about composting, food waste reduction, and other topics as well as speakers, a film and music. Learn what you can do to reduce food waste while enjoying some great food!
