press release: Ritt Deitz will be celebrating the release of his new album, Horses and Smoke (his sixth on Uvulittle), on Saturday, November 17, at Mother Fool's Coffeehouse. The album was released Aug 14 and Ritt has been playing around the state as well as in the Ohio River Valley to promote the new album.
Madison's Isthmus says, "Deitz combines rugged mountain sonics with an aesthetic that’s closer to ragtime than anything else. At times, he resembles Tom Waits in his ability to marry sophistication with down-homeness, which he puts on full display in his ninth album, Horses and Smoke."
The band on this disc includes hammered dulcimer (Dave Foss), piano (Wilder Deitz, Ritt's son), electric bass (Joe Meisel) and Ritt on acoustic guitar. Biff Blumfumgagnge sits in on fiddle on two tracks.
He will be bringing the band from the album for this special show. Hammered dulcimer (Dave Foss), piano (Wilder Deitz, Ritt's son), electric bass (Joe Meisel) and Ritt on acoustic guitar.
