Roy Rodgers & the Delta Rhythm Kings

press release: Mississippi blues slide guitar master Roy Rogers and his band the Delta Rhythm Kings bring their good-time, high energy musical prowess to the Stoughton Opera House on Friday, March 29 at 7:30 pm.

Rogers puts a lot of miles between his Delta blues style and that of his singing cowboy namesake, but what they don’t hold in genre they make up for in entertainment value. Watching Rogers on the stage makes one wonder if he’s ever put the guitar down after picking it up at age twelve. For nearly 30 years Roy Rogers & The Delta Rhythm Kings have been playing, touring, and recording with legandary names such as Taj Mahal, Miles Davis, and John Lee Hooker. As a producer he is perhaps best known for Hooker’s classic comeback album “The Healer” featuring Bonnie Raitt, Santana, Los Lobos and more which earned a Grammy Award.

A night with Roy Rogers and The Delta Rhythm Kings features classics and originals ranging from the acoustic slide blues of Robert Johnson and Lighting Hopkins to the rockin’ blues of John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters.
