UPDATE: RUCKSACK REVOLUTION for tonight Feb 9 has been POSTPONED. The crew and band did their best to make it to the theater – some making it part way before having to turn back, but ultimately conditions just aren’t safe on the highways right now and won’t be in time for the show. We want everyone to be safe. The new date for the show will be Wednesday April 26 – if you have tickets check your emails for more information very soon on your options.
(2022 pick) There are Wisconsin artists who show they truly care about other musicians; fellow-players making their way in the Badger State. American bluegrass and folk masters Adam Greuel of Stevens Point’s Horseshoes and Hand Grenades and Sarah Vos of Dead Horses from Milwaukee are two. Their tender performances as Rucksack Revolution feature unselfish vocal harmonies. Their set list is deep; if they play “Winona, Winona,” the song should haunt the audience long after the curtain drops. The duo's self-titled debut album was released Feb. 11.
press release: The first of the STOUGHTON OPERA HOUSE Spring 2023 concert series begins with the delightfully compatable and joyfully harmonious Rucksack Revolution. A match made in Wisconsin music heaven, Sarah Vos of Dead Horses and Adam Greuel from Horseshoes & Handgrenades return to the stage on Thursday, February 9, at 7:30 pm.
If asked about how they met, Greuel says, “We met back in the early days of Dead Horses and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. Those are our two main bands, ya know, our day jobs. Anyhow, we immediately hit it off and became friends. I think there was a sense of musical and life curiosity, as well as mutual respect, that drew us together. That feeling led to us hanging out at my college rental house in Stevens Point. We started playing music together and there was this wonderful and immediate sense of chemistry. The floors were wooden, and I think that made the sound sparkle a little bit too. That really was the first night of Rucksack Revolution.”
Picked by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as one of “5 Wisconsin Artists to Watch in 2022”, Vos and Greuel were named “Two of the most accomplished Wisconsin bands of the past decade, building up significant fan bases with multiple tours across the country.”
In the same article Vos said of playing music with Greuel, "It felt like I had this connection with another songwriter I've never experienced before and haven't since," Vos said. "It was just a natural trust that I have with him."
