S. Carey
An Evening With S. Carey
PAC SPECIAL PERFORMANCE
In 2007, Sean Carey joined Eau Claire resident Justin Vernon, who was forming a band to take his For Emma, Forever Ago opus on the road. Carey rehearsed drum and vocal parts for the album with Vernon and has been a mainstay of the Grammy Award-winning indie folk band Bon Iver ever since.
Carey has his own band as well. His newest album Range of Light is a dazzling array of musical light and shade, drawn from his love of jazz, modern classical, and Americana.
His chosen musical expression is a serene, restorative panorama of beauty – perfect given how landscape and the wonder of nature inspire much of Carey's imagery. His music is simultaneously restful and rhythmic, complex and simple, and always evolving. With a performance degree in classical percussion from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, coupled with his love for jazz drumming, prepared him for a central role in a great Wisconsin musical collaboration and successful career.
